The role of FSCS
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) is the UK's statutory fund of last resort for customers of financial services firms and may be able to help consumers if an authorised firm is unable to pay claims against it. FSCS was set up under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA) and covers deposits, insurance, investments and mortgage business. FSCS is an independent body. Our service is free to consumers.
As a fund of last resort, FSCS is only able to consider claims against a regulated firm that it considers is 'in default'. A declaration of default will be made if a firm is unable (or likely to be unable) to pay claims made against it, and there are claims which are eligible for compensation from FSCS.
What can FSCS do to help me?
Berry Birch and Noble Financial Planning Limited has not, to date, been declared in default by FSCS. We are currently talking to the administrators to determine what our potential involvement may be with this firm, but we are not currently able to consider individual claims from consumers. If this firm is declared in default by us, FSCS will contact those consumers who have lodged a claim with the administrators.
