FSCS protected badge for deposit takers

Last updated: July 2023

Please note: The FSCS protected disclosure materials on this page are for use by authorised deposit takers only. Other regulated firms cannot use these materials, but are able to use our brand logo and name if they meet our Terms & conditions.

PRA disclosure requirements

FSCS provides protection to customers of financial firms that have failed. To help build and maintain customer awareness, FSCS works closely with the financial services industry to promote FSCS protection to customers.

Disclosure requirements set by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) require all authorised banks, building societies and credit unions to inform new and existing customers that FSCS protects their deposits.

Together, FSCS, the Building Societies Association and UK Finance have agreed how the FSCS protected badge can be used across a range of channels, including digital, advertising and disclosure. This guidance was first introduced in 2017 and will be reviewed by FSCS in the 2023/24 financial year.

FSCS protected disclosure materials

Chapter 23 of the Depositor Protection section of the PRA Handbook outlines details where deposit takers must display the FSCS protected badge and associated materials.

Deposit takers must prominently feature FSCS disclosure materials (stickers, posters and leaflets) in-branch. They can also feature the FSCS protected badge on websites, mobile apps, FSCS customer information sheets and in advertising campaigns. All of these materials can be found below.

The PRA has also confirmed deposit firms can use the badge in their annual disclosure statements. This link will let you download full instructions on how and where to use the badge and disclosure materials. (zipped file 1.1MB)

FSCS produces the designs that deposit firms must use when complying with the regulatory requirements. There’s a full suite of materials below, which includes instructions and all the printer-ready artwork.

Reproducing disclosure materials

We recommend the use of professional designers and printers to accurately reproduce the materials. Your designer will insert the name of your firm, along with the names of any brands you share a licence with (if applicable), into the stickers and posters. There are clear instructions with each file. By downloading and using these materials you’re agreeing to FSCS terms and conditions.
