Icesave update: ISA Reinstatement Certificates
13th March 2009
The FSCS arranged for all Icesave ISA customers to be sent their Reinstatement Certificates by the end of the first week in March. The certificates allow customers with Icesave ISA's to keep the tax-free status of their money and reinvest it with another provider, as long as it is done by 5 April 2009.
For the small number of people who needed their certificates re-sent, either because the certificate was lost in the post or due to changes in names or addresses, they were able to request a new certificate, provided that the FSCS was contacted by 12 March 2009.
The FSCS will handle all reinstatement certificate requests and enquiries received before and including 12 March 2009. This is only for customers of the online bank Icesave that was declared in default in October last year. FSCS does not handle ISA certificates on behalf of any other organisation.
Please note that FSCS are unable to process any more requests for ISA Reinstatement Certificates as of today (13 March 2009).
