Ober Private Clients Ltd (“Ober”) specialised in promoting and arranging investments in Enterprise Investment Schemes. Ober also sold a corporate bond in Fusion Festivals & Events Ltd and shares in its own company. The firm ceased trading in November 2019.
FSCS is currently accepting claims against Ober, although we haven't yet passed them to our claims teams for assessment. Firstly, we need to establish whether there are valid claims against the firm. For this to happen we need to know that Ober owes a civil liability to customers that would enable it to be sued in court.
For FSCS to consider a claim, you must have done business directly with Ober while it was FCA authorised, i.e., on or after 12 May 2016.
If you’ve already submitted a complaint against Ober to the Financial Ombudsman Service (“FOS”), FOS will be in contact to say they've sent your file to FSCS. On receipt of your FOS file, we’ll write to you to explain the next steps.
If you think you have a claim and were advised by an FCA-authorised adviser that’s still trading to invest in a product promoted by Ober, you need to complain to them first. If your adviser rejects your complaint, you can take your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).
If you think you have a claim and were advised by an FCA-authorised adviser that’s now not trading to invest in a product promoted by Ober, you should submit a claim to FSCS against your financial adviser.
FSCS is free to use and you don’t need to use a representative to make a claim. If you bring your claim to us directly you will receive 100% of any compensation due.
