FSCS warns consumers of potential scam

We want to make consumers aware of phishing emails from “Paulo Gatti” and “Damian Trevor” who are falsely representing that they are employees of FSCS and an authorised investment firm based in the European Union. Consumers are being asked to register a claim for compensation and instructed to deposit money into a cryptocurrency account held by a German bank in order to receive compensation.

FSCS does not contact consumers in this way and urges anyone who receives an unsolicited email of this nature not to reply or provide personal information to avoid falling victim to this scam or fraud.

FSCS is working closely with Action Fraud on this matter.
